JEFFERSON – Willie J. Long, 72, died Tuesday, December 7, 2010.
Born on July 6, 1938, in Jackson County, he was the son of the late Hill Allen and Hazel Pittman Long. He drove a gas truck for 36 years and recently worked as a custodian for the Jefferson City School System. He was a member of the Living Word Worship Center. Mr. Long was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Long; and sister, Mary Long Martin.
Survivors include his wife, Joyce Long, Jefferson; daughter and son-in-law, Angie and Ken Parks, Lula; brothers, Rex Long, California, Pat Long, Commerce, Michael Long, Anderson, S.C., and Tim Long, Jefferson; sisters, Ann Morgan, South Carolina, Hilda Hart, Commerce, Sarah Hardy, Canon; and four grandchildren, Amy Roberts, Abby, Thomas and Todd Parks.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 9, at 2 p.m., from the Living Word Worship Center with the Revs. Dennis Kesler and Mark Mobley officiating. Burial will be in the Woodbine Cemetery with Kandy Parks, Todd Parks, Thomas Parks, Billy Morgan, Cody Baker, Josh Long and Jacob Long honored as pallbearers. The visitation will be held Wednesday, December 8, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
