CARLTON – Janie Arlene Moon Sorrow, 89, died Monday, December 6, 2010, at Cobb Memorial Hospital.
Born in Oglethorpe County on October 30, 1921, she was the daughter of the late John B. and Minnie Hancock Moon. She worked as a seamstress. Mrs. Sorrow was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Taylor Sorrow; sisters, Martha McPhearson, Lucy Slappy and Lizzie Miller; and a brother, John T. Moon.
Survivors include a son, Douglas Sorrow; daughters, Vaneitta Collins and Debbie Whitsel; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; sisters, Rebecca Paul, Carlton, Eullaia Bennett, Bowman, Clara Seymour and Betty Jean Waters, both of Comer; and a brother, Richard Moon, Fayetteville.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 8, at 2 p.m. from Hicks Funeral Home with the Rev. Douglas Duncan officiating. Burial will be at Glade Cemetery in Carlton. Pallbearers will be Zach Whitsel, Shane Collins, Taylor Graham Leonard Collins, Ryan Wills and Wayne Sorrow. Visitation will be Wednesday at 1 p.m. prior to the service.
Hicks Funeral Home, Elberton, is in charge of arrangements.
