Kenneth “Wayne” Powell
COMMERCE - Kenneth "Wayne" Powell, 58, Auto Body Technician.
Kenneth Wayne Powell went to be with Jesus on Saturday, December 4, 2010, following an extended illness.
He was born in Jackson County to the late Bill Powell and Dorothy Blalock Powell Watson. He was the grandson of the late Hoke and Edna Merle Blalock and the nephew of the late George Thomas Blalock.
Wayne was a Commerce High School student and a graduate of Athens Tech in which he received his certificate as an auto body technician. He was an auto body repairman, a skilled fisherman, Georgia Bulldog fan and a dedicated Auto Racing fan in which throughout his lifetime he had made many friends and enjoyed spending times with his friends making lasting memories.
Although gone but never to be forgotten Wayne left behind his family including a brother Tommy Watson; sister-in-law, Janet Watson; nephew, Joshua B. Watson; niece, Samantha Watson; aunt, Glinda Blalock; two special cousins, Beverly Blalock and Cindy Stancil which were like sisters to him; other immediate family members, Holly Gaddis, Johnny Stancil, Jonathon and Jennifer Stancil, Chance and Kyler Stancil; and special friends, Dr. and Mrs. Doy Gay, Winder, Wesley Moore, Jefferson, and Julie Anthony, Commerce.
A memorial service will be held for Mr. Powell at the Baptist Tabernacle on Thursday, December 9, at 4 p.m. with the Rev. Tommy Watson officiating. Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Thursday, December 9, also at the church. The church is located on Hwy. 441 south of Commerce at the green Jesus Saves sign.
Little Ward Funeral Home, Commerce, is in charge of arrangements.
