NICHOLSON – Edna Scogin Alewine, 84, died Saturday, December 4, 2010, at the Athens Regional Medical Center in Athens.
Born in Madison County on December 25, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Robert Elsbury and Annie Goss Scogin. She was a homemaker and member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Hull. Mrs. Alewine was preceded in death by her husband, Lonnie Alewine; a daughter, Edna Merle Alewine; brothers, Robert, Grady and William Scogin; and a sister, Azilee Nation.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Patsy and Jerry Drake, Danielsville; sons and partner, Paul Alewine and Michael Alewine and Jerry Braun, all of Nicholson; grandchildren, Ronnie Alewine, Ryan Alewine and Amy Summers; great-grandchildren, Destiny Alewine, Josh Alewine and Mary Drayke Summers; and a brother, Jacob Scogin, Danielsville.
Funeral services will be held Monday, December 6, at 2 p.m., from the chapel of Pruitt Funeral Home with the Rev. Albert Vaughn officiating. Burial will be in the Calvary Baptist Church Cemetery.
Flowers are optional. Memorials may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
Pruitt Funeral Home, Royston, is in charge of arrangements.
