HOSCHTON - Gene Martin, 80, died Sunday, November 14, 2010.

A son of the late Herman and Myrtle Benefield Martin, he was a longtime member and deacon of Sharon Baptist Church. Mr. Martin was a retired maintenance supervisor at First Baptist Church of Lawrenceville.

Survivors include his wife, Rena Martin; children, Judy Marvel, Cathy Hooks, both of Hoschton, Faye Miller, Auburn, and Connie Chappel, Barnesville; sister, Essie Bell, Winder; and nine grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, November 16, at 2 p.m. from the chapel of Carter Funeral Home with the Revs. Steve Baker and James McNeal officiating. Burial will be in Sharon Baptist Church Cemetery.

Carter Funeral Home, Winder, is in charge of arrangements.
