HULL – Essie Ruth Whitehead Cowart, 85, died Thursday, November 11, 2010, at Cobb Healthcare in Comer.
Born in Athens, she was the daughter of the late Earlie Andrew and Lizzie Vaughn Whitehead. Mrs. Cowart was preceded in death by her husband, J.C. Cowart; and a son, Lewis Cowart.
Survivors include daughters, Susan (Asa) Huff, Hull, Robin Burroughs, Colbert; a son, Nelson Cowart, Nicholson; brother, Elmer Whitehead, Athens; grandchildren, Wesley (Brandy) Huff, Suzanne (Grant) Culbertson, Dawn (Jackson) Kilgore and Tyler Doster; four great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
Special thanks are extended to special caregivers of Cobb Healthcare, Tonga Allen, Denise and Mandy.
Funeral services were held Sunday, November 14, from the chapel of Ivie Funeral Home with the Revs. Dennis Kesler and Clay Huff officiating. Burial was in the Hull Baptist Church Cemetery.
Ivie Funeral Home, Madison County Chapel, Danielsville, was in charge of arrangements.
