BOWMAN – James Glen Dixon Sr. died Monday, November 8, 2010, at the Athens Regional Medical Center in Athens.
Born in Bowman on February 18, 1931, he was the son of the late Perry G. and Annie Lou Ginn Dixon. He was a contractor and member of the Oak Grove Baptist Church, where he served as chairman of the deacons. He was a member of the Experimental Aircraft Association. Mr. Dixon was preceded in death by a daughter, Gail Bright.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Helen Chiappini Dixon, Bowman; sons, Glen Dixon, Athens, and Chris Dixon, Comer; sisters, Jean Pope, Jacksonville, Fla., Patsy Craft, Augusta, Joan Holloman, Elberton, and Judy Eavenson, Dewy Rose; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Thursday, November 11, from the Oak Grove Baptist Church with the Revs. James Creason and Joe Wood officiating. Burial was in Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery in Bowman.
