CORNELIA – Christine Caudell Ivester, 92, died Friday, November 5, 2010, at a private healthcare facility following an extended illness.
Born in Banks County on August 21, 1918, she was the daughter of the late Pitner and Decie Coker Caudell. She was retired from Ethicon, a Johnson & Johnson Company, and was a member of Damascus Baptist Church. She enjoyed yard work, flowers, crossword puzzles, scrapbooks, reading and listening to classical country and gospel music. Mrs. Ivester was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Richard Ivester; brothers, Oscar, Hermit, Louie and John Caudell; sisters, Cora Caudell, Bernice Andrews, Mary Sue Payne and Doris Comer; and a brother, Donald Bradley Ivester.
Survivors include daughters, Mildred Wilbanks and Susan Miller, both of Cornelia, Sandra Taylor, Lavonia, and Barbara Whitlow, Gainesville; a son, John T. Ivester, Tucker; brother, Wayne Caudell, Jefferson; sister, Bonnie Goza, Tucker; 14 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and 13 great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, November 7, at 2 p.m., from the chapel of McGahee-Griffin & Stewart Funeral Home. Burial will be in Level Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday, November 6, from 6 to 8 p.m.
