WINDER - Pete Steed, 90, died Sunday, October 31, 2010.
He was the son of the late John Nathaniel and Naomi Wall Steed. He was the owner/operator of Steed Grocery, a Veteran of the United States Army and was a member of the New Pentecost United Methodist Church. Mr. Steed was preceded in death by his wife, Mary F. Steed; and a son, John Steed.
Survivors include a daughter, Ann Harris and son, Bobby Steed, both of Winder; grandchildren Daphne DeLee, Adam Harris, Klint Harris, Shannon Harris, MaryBeth Pope, Katie Lang, Kim Stone, Amanda Zubrzycki, Joshua Steed and Austin Steed; and 14 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, November 2, at 6:30 p.m. from the New Pentecost United Methodist Church with the Revs. Billy Pittman and Mike McLemore officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday, November 2, from 4 to 6 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to the New Pentecost United Methodist Church, C/O Pat Mayes, 832 Whispering Pine Rd., Winder, GA 30680.
Smith Funeral Home, Winder, is in charge of arrangements.

MR.PETE WILL BE MISSED BY MANY. HE WAS A VERY SWEET, LOVING AND A FRIEND TO EVERY BODY. I WILL MISS HIM GREATLY, WORKED WITH MISS MARY AND MR. PETE AT THE OLD HOSPITAL.

Pete will truly be missed. I'll always remember working with Pete and Mary, they were a sweet couple and shared their love with others.
