JACKSON COUNTY – Clarence I. Wages, born and living most of his life in Jackson County, died Saturday, October 30, 2010.
He was the son of the late Ellis and Masette Wages and was retired from Jackson Electric Membership Corporation in 1981. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. Mr. Wages served in the Army Air Corps during World War II.
Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Leola Wages; sons and daughter-in-law, Rodney and Jena Wages, Athens, and Paul Wages, Decatur; daughter and son-in-law, Pam and Claude Godfrey, Colorado Springs, Colo.; grandson and wife, Chris Godfrey and Theresa Wright, Athens; grandson, Mark Godfrey, Winston-Salem, N.C.; grandson and wife, Brian and Cassie Wages, Tucker; and great-grandson, Finn Godfrey, Athens.
Funeral services will be held Monday, November 1, at 2 p.m., from the chapel of Bernstein Funeral Home with the Rev. Bill Carpenter and Fr. David McGuinness officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1 to 2 p.m. prior to the service.
