Helen Annette Freeman McCoy, 75, died Friday, October 8, 2010, following an extended illness, and was ushered into the presence of the Lord.
Born in Jackson County, she was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Johnson Freeman. She was a member of only two churches in her lifetime. Prior to her marriage, she was a member of Galilee Christian Church in Jefferson and after her marriage, she became a member of Webbs Creek Baptist Church in Commerce, where she remained an active member until her death.
She was a devoted and loving wife, mother and grandmother, and was loved by all who knew her, loved ones stated. Mrs. McCoy was a wonderful Christian witness who set an example for those around her. She was a woman of strong character and integrity, with great wisdom, many skills and great compassion.
Survivors include her husband, Hoyt Dean “Dink” McCoy, Banks County; daughters, Marsha Dean McCoy, Easley, S.C., Kim McCoy Orr and her husband Jack, Commerce, and Chris McCoy Bray and her husband Drew, Jefferson; a granddaughter, Ashley Victoria Clary; three grandsons, A.J. Purcell and his wife Brittany, Zach Purcell and Mac Bray; brother, Jack Freeman and his wife, Jane, Braselton; and one great-grandchild, Savannah Purcell.
A life celebration service was held at Webbs Creek Baptist Church on Sunday, October 10 with Minister Tom Plank and the Rev. Wade Lott officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.
