Larry Strickland

COLBERT – Larry Wayne Strickland, 58, died Monday, October 4, 2010, at Emory University Hospital.

Born in Gastonia, N.C., he had lived in Madison County all of his life. He was the son of Lillian Sorrow Strickland of Colbert and the late James Jackson Strickland. Mr. Strickland was preceded in death by a brother, Robbie Strickland; and an infant sister, Tracy Strickland. He was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church.

Survivors in addition to his mother include brothers, Tommy, Roger and Bruce Strickland, all of Colbert; sisters and brothers-in-law, Patricia and Doug Morris and Rochelle and Brett Smith, all of Colbert; special friend that was dear to his heart, Cathy Orff; godchildren, Christy Moore, Janice Rawley, Dawn Elliot; god grandchildren, Devin; Jonathan, Holden, Jacob and special god granddaughter, Kinsley.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, October 7, at 3 p.m., from Pleasant Grove Baptist Church with Pastors Robby Brown and David Bailey officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be Michael Bishop, Jammy Strickland, Wesley Wright, Roger Strickland, Andy Morris, Rocky Strickland; and honorary pallbearers Robby, Timmy and Ricky Strickland and Brandon Smith. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday, October 6, from 6 to 8 p.m.
