Evelyn Daniel

BISHOP – Evelyn Gurley Daniel, 72, died Sunday, October 3, 2010.

A native of Madison County, she was the daughter of the late Otto and Della Davis Brooks. She was a graduate of Madison County High School in 1956, and was employed at Wal-Mart for the last 24 years, where she was a strong supporter of The Children’s Miracle Network through the Wal-Mart Store. She was also employed with Burger King in the Athens area for 15 years. Throughout her adult life she was very involved in the Oconee County area. She was a member of Union Christian Church. Mrs. Daniel was preceded in death by her husband, Ed Daniel; sister-in-law, Mary Ella Brooks; and brother-in-law, Paul Strickland.

Survivors include her children, Amy (Allen) Bishop, Watkinsville, Andy (Ann) Gurley, Dacula; Ed’s children, Doug (Pam) Daniel, Denise (Steve) Carter, Keith Daniel, Missy (Jerry) Clark; brother, Guy Brooks, Danielsville; sister, Mildred Strickland, Danielsville; grandchildren, Julia Bishop, Alex Bishop, Chaz Bishop, Courtney Gurley, Starla Daniel-Martin, Adam Daniel, Nolan Daniel, Harrison Daniel, Jacob Daniel, Victor Hardman, Codie Bailey, Dalton Carter, Devon Carter, Ashley Kinney, Kevin Daniel, Tiffany Shuster, Connie Daniel, John Daniel, Tommy Clark, Terry Clark and Shelia Clark; 11 great-grandchildren; many beloved nieces, nephews and cousins; and her traveling buddies, Ann Simmons and Jolita Churchill.

Memorial services will be held Wednesday, October 6, at 2 p.m. from Union Christian Church with the Rev. Troy Tatum officiating. The family will receive friends after the service at the Church.
