ATLANTA – Henry Edward McDonald, 84, formerly of Banks County, died Wednesday, September 29, 2010.
Born in Banks County on October 15, 1925, he was the son of the late Guy Odessa and Ida Owens McDonald. He was a member of the Mt. Pleasant United Church and was a veteran of the United States Army, having served during World War II. He was a retired letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service with over 35 years of service. Mr. McDonald was the last of his immediate family.
Survivors include his wife, Moise Coker McDonald, Atlanta; daughter and son-in-law, Jan and Joseph Laurenzo, Atlanta; grandson and granddaughter-in-law, Paul and Erinn Laurenzo, Woodstock; and great-grandchildren, Autum and Anthony Laurenzo, Woodstock.
Graveside services will be held Friday, October 1, at 2 p.m., from Nails Creek Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Jim Howell officiating. Full military honors will be provided by the Habersham County American Legion Post #84, Rabun County DAV Chapter 15 and the Grant Reeves VFW Post #7720.
The family will receive friends Friday, October 1, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Whitfield Funeral Home in Baldwin.
Flowers are accepted or memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
Whitfield Funeral Home, South Chapel, Baldwin, is in charge of arrangements.
