WINDER – Charles Edward Haymon, 87, died Wednesday, September 22, 2010.
Born in Barrow County, he was the son of the late John A. and Agnes Pierce Haymon. He was a member of Whistleville Christian Church, retired from the Georgia State Highway, and served as a city councilman from 1987 to 2005. He was a veteran, having served in World War II. Mr. Haymon was preceded in death by a daughter, Kathy Haymon.
Survivors include his wife, Darleen Haymon, Winder; son and daughter-in-law, Dwight and Candy Haymon, Snellville; grandchildren, John Haymon, Bethany H. Jackson and Sarah Haymon; brother, Harold Haymon, Decatur, and sisters, Dorothy “Dot” Smith and Syble Brock, both of Winder.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 25, at 2 p.m., from Smith Memory Chapel with Linwood Smith, Ray Fumea and Ray K. Fumea officiating. Burial will be in Barrow Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday, September 24, from 6 to 8 p.m.
