JEFFERSON – Vivian Nabors Evans, 93, died Monday, September 20, 2010.
Born on February 17, 1917, in DeKalb County, she was the daughter of the late Oscar and Edna Davis Nabors. She was a member of the Faith Baptist Church of Jefferson and taught Sunday School while her children were growing up She later taught the senior ladies in her Church. She was a homemaker, seamstress and avid gardener. Mrs. Evans was preceded in death by her husband, Paul R. Evans; sons, Robert O. and Daniel J. Evans; brothers, J.W., Henry Edward, Broughton and Bubber Nabors; sisters, Minnie Lee Clay and Hazel Bullock; and grandchildren, Eric and Iris Evans.
Mrs. Evans was a loving sister, mother, grandmother and aunt. She made friends with everyone she met, loved ones added.
Survivors include sons, Major (Ret.) James H. and Lucy Evans, Clarkesville, Tenn., Neal and Betsy Evans, Billy Evans, Bruce Evans, all of Athens, Chief Master Sergeant (Ret.) Ronald and Nancy Evans, Mountain Home, Idaho, Donald Evans, Hull, Eddie Evans and Davis Evans, Oglethorpe County; daughters, Edna and James England, Hull, Pauline Maxey, Winterville; daughter-in-law, Merdell Evans, Athens; sisters, Ruth Fowler, Jefferson, Sarah Jarrett, Colbert; sister-in-law, Dot Nabors, Jefferson; 19 grandchildren 26 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, September 22, at 11 a.m., from the chapel of Evans Funeral Home with Pastor Keith Cudd officiating. The burial will follow in the Nicholson City Cemetery. The visitation will be held Tuesday, September 21, from 6 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
