JEFFERSON – Robert Watson, 69, died Monday, September 13, 2010.
Born in Jackson County on September 16, 1940, he was the son of the late June and Mamie Shields Watson. He was a maintenance man with Gold Kist and attended the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Jefferson. Mr. Watson was preceded in death by brothers, Willie J. Watson and Crawford Watson.
Survivors include his wife of 38 years, Theodora Bailey Watson, Jefferson; stepson, Edward Howard Bailey, Gainesville; a niece, raised as his own child, Suprena Bailey, Athens; brothers, Charlie Watson, Bobbie Watson and Billy Watson, all of Jefferson; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., on Friday, September 17, from the chapel of Evans Funeral Home with the Rev. Ronald Watson officiating. Burial will follow in the Evans Memory Gardens with nieces and nephews honored as pallbearers. The family will receive friends Friday from 12 noon to 2 p.m. at the funeral home.
