COLBERT – Elnora Saxon Townsend, 78, died Friday, September 3, 2010, at the St. Mary’s Hospice House.
A native of Oconee County, she was the daughter of the late Raymond Lee and Dovie Mae Ashley Saxon. She was retired from St. Mary's Hospital after 17 years of service and was a member of Whitehall Baptist Church. Mrs. Townsend was preceded in death by a sister, Edna Saxon.
Survivors include her husband of 56 years, Bobby Townsend; children and spouses, Debbie (Jimmy) Hembree, Chuck (Angie) Townsend, Bobby (Tracy) Townsend; a sister, Liz Warren; grandchildren, Mike Hembree, Rusty Hembree, Kevin Townsend, Russell Sloan, Cody Townsend, Angeleigh Townsend; and great-grandchildren, Chaelyn, Pressley, Amelia and Jordan.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, September 5, at 4 p.m., from the chapel of Lord & Stephens Funeral Home EAST with the Revs. Buford Lockman and Elmer Butler officiating. Burial will be in the Winterville Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Mike Hembree, Rusty Hembree, Cody Townsend, Danny Cheek, Doug Watson and John Howard. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday, September 4, from 6 to 8 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the St. Mary’s Hospice House.
