John E. “Johnny” McCright, 65, of Auburn, Mt. Moriah Community, died Tuesday, July 22, 2008.
He was born on February 2, 1943 in Waycross, a son of the late Horace and Nellie McCright. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Leonard and Junior McCright; and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Aaron and Dorothy Smith Byers. He was employed with Reynolds, Inc., Fairburn, as a construction foreman and was a member of Mt. Moriah Baptist Church, Auburn.
Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Nell Byers McCright, Auburn; sons, the Rev. Eddie McCright and Stephen McCright, both of Auburn; sons and daughters-in-law, Dwight and Becky McCright, Auburn, and David and Stacey McCright, Homer; sisters and brothers-in-law, Kate and Andrew Rogers, Orlando, Fla., and Mary Lee and Bill Benifield, Buford; a brother and sister-in-law, W.J. and Joyce Beasley, Gloverville, S.C.; brothers-in-law, Charles Beasley, Orlando, Fla., and Robert McCright, Kennesaw; uncle, Bobby Taylor, Gloverville, S.C.; grandchildren, Abner McCright, Karissa McCright and Sean McCright; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services were on Thursday, July 24, in the chapel of Flanigan Funeral Home, Buford, with the Rev. Lamar Martin officiating. Interment and a graveside service were held at the Mt. Moriah Baptist Church Cemetery, Auburn, with the Rev. Eddie McCright officiating. Phil Byers, Abner McCright, Chris Benifield, Lowell Byers, Terry Byers and Billy Benifield, Jr. served as pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Mt. Moriah Baptist Church Building Fund in memory of Johnny McCright.
Flanigan Funeral Home, Buford, was in charge of arrangements.
