COMER – Mary Birchmore Burousas, 83, died Monday, August 23, 2010.
Born in Anderson, S.C., and longtime resident of Comer, she was the daughter of the late John and Eula Vaughan Birchmore. She was a member of the Comer United Methodist Church where she served as choir director and Sunday school teacher for many years. She was a graduate of the University of Georgia and a former co-owner of Empire Telephone Company in Comer. Mrs. Burousas was preceded in death by her husband, Alexander N. Burousas.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Bonnie and David Legg, Comer; grandson, Travis and Jill Legg, Comer; granddaughter, Noelle and Matthew Jones, Comer; and seven great-grandchildren whom she loved so dearly.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, August 26, at 11 a.m., from the Comer United Methodist Church with the Revs. P. Alice Rogers and Hugh Hendrickson officiating. Burial will be in the Comer Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday, August 25, from 6 to 8 p.m.
