JEFFERSON – Minnie Evelyn Smith Massey, 85, died Tuesday, August 17, 2010, following a period of declining health.
Born on August 29, 1924, in Oconee County, she was the daughter of the late Samuel Herman and Marie Smith. She was a homemaker and a member of the Commerce Church of God. Mrs. Massey was preceded in death by her husband, James Massey.
Survivors include a stepson, Paul and Julie Harkins, Jefferson; sister, Harriet Smith Tucker, Ocala, Fla.; brother, Morton Smith, Watkinsville; grandsons, Blake and Collin Harkins, both of Jefferson; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, August 19, at 2 p.m., from the chapel of Evans Funeral home with the Revs. John Webber and Henry Webb officiating. Burial will be in Jackson Memorial Park Funeral Home in Commerce. The family will receive friends Wednesday, August 18, from 6 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
