Ambrose Bennett

ATHENS – Ambrose O. Bennett, 74, died Sunday, August 15, 2010.

A native of Madison County, he was the son of the late Coyle O. and Vola Lee Lord Bennett. He was retired from the University of Georgia. Mr. Bennett was preceded in death by a stepdaughter, Deborah Bennett; brothers, William E. Bennett, Julian Bennett and George Bennett; and a sister, Mary Ann Landrum.

Survivors include his wife, Kathleen Campbell Bennett, Athens; sons and daughters-in-law, Travis and Terri Bennett, Arcade, and Tony and Barbara Bennett, Comer; stepsons, Steve Bennett and wife, Kathy, Bishop, Wesley A. Bennett and wife, Teresa, Winterville, Randy A. Bennett and wife, Catherine, Nicholson; brothers, Henry B. Bennett, Center, and Roger D. Bennett, Jackson; sisters, Joyce Bennett Wilkins, Hull, and Sue Bennett Campbell, Kingston, N.C.; 19 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be held Thursday, August 19, at 11 a.m., at Coile Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday, August 17, from 7 to 9 p.m., at the funeral home.
