Roy Watkins

LULA – Roy James Watkins, 79, died Monday, August, 9, 2010, at Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville.

Born in Hall County, he was the son of the late Charlie and Hular Baker Watkins. Mr. Watkins was preceded in death by a daughter, Janice Watkins.

Survivors include his wife, Inez Watkins, Lula; sons, David Watkins, Lula, Joel Watkins, Maysville, and Keith Watkins, Alto; a daughter, Carol Hulsey, Maysville; brother, Harold Watkins, Homer; sisters, Gwen Ivey, Calhoun, and Barbara Purcell, Newnan; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, August 11, at 2 p.m., from the Diamond Hill Baptist Church with the Revs. Elmer Maddox and Greg Poole officiating. Burial will be in the Mt. Carmel Baptist Church Cemetery. The body will lie in state at the church for 30 minutes prior to the service. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday, August 10, from 7 to 9 p.m.

Ivie Funeral Home, Commerce, is in charge of arrangements.
