ATHENS – Dorothy Lillian McDaniel Dunbar, 78, died Saturday, August 7, 2010.
Born on May 27, 1932, in Tennessee, she was the daughter of the late Herman and Ruby Elizabeth Kelly McDaniel. She was a homemaker and a member of the Gospel Tabernacle in Jefferson. Mrs. Dunbar was preceded in death by her first husband, James Lester McGill Sr.; and her husband, Alfred Dunbar.
Survivors include a daughter, Carol McGill, Commerce; daughters and sons-in-law, Jo Anne and Gerald Cannon, Lawrenceville, Norma Jeanne and Ned Grice, Jefferson, Angela and Ronnie Nix, Pendergrass; son and daughter-in-law, James and Brenda Gail McGill, Dacula; sisters, Lenora Allen, Flowery Branch, Jewel Amerson, Winder; brother, Carliss McDaniel, Corrington, Tenn.; 11 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Monday, August 9, from the chapel of Evans Funeral Home with the Revs. Larry Cannon and Todd Heil officiating. Burial was in Hill Haven Memory Gardens in Monroe. Serving as pallbearers were Ned Appleby, Nathan McGill, Daniel McGill, Jason Cannon, Jason Embric and Ronald Cannon.
Evans Funeral Home, Jefferson, was in charge of arrangements.
