JEFFERSON – Ada Hardy Elder, 77, died Thursday, August 5, 2010.
Born on October 18, 1932, in Jefferson, she was the daughter of the late Ed and Ada Tolbert Hardy. She was a graduate of Jefferson High School and the University of Georgia, where she received a Master's Degree in Education. She was retired from the Jefferson High School, where she worked as a librarian, and was a member of Galilee Christian Church, where she served as a Sunday School teacher and member of the choir. Mrs. Elder was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Elder; brother, Joel Cecil (Jack) Hardy; and a sister, Billie Kathryn Hardy Wells.
Survivors include sons, Bill Elder, Gainesville, John Elder and Bert Elder, both of Jefferson, and Joseph Elder (Julie), Conyers; and grandchildren, Daniel Brady Elder, Joshua Benjamin Elder, Lisa Katherine Elder, Emily Ellen Elder, Joanna Marie Elder, Rachel Lynn Elder and Caleb Michael Elder.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, August 8, at 2 p.m., from the Galilee Christian Church with Minister Tom Plank officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday, August 7, from 4 to 7 p.m.
