COLBERT – Linda Gale Guice Smallwood went home at Athens Regional Medical Center on Monday, July 19, 2010.
A native of Henderson County, N.C., she had lived in Colbert for nearly 25 years. She was an employee of Burton and Burton in Athens and enjoyed mathematics, gardening and raising pygmy goats. Mrs. Smallwood was preceded in death her parents James Grady and Georgia (Laughter) Guice; and a daughter, Kimberly Lynn Case.
Survivors include her husband, Ray Smallwood Sr.; daughters, Dr. Angelisa Janssen, Nashville, Tenn., Cindy Case, Hendersonville, N.C., Sheila Bingham, Athens, Cheryl Smallwood, Spartanburg, S.C., and Pamela Adams, Charlotte, N.C.; a son, Ray Smallwood Jr., Colbert; four grandchildren; and sisters, Vonda Fair, Flat Rock, N.C., Barbie Ebbett, Wortham, Texas, Mary Smith, Liberty, S.C., and Pauline Higgins, Tryon, N.C.
Lord & Stephens Funeral Home of Danielsville will assist the family. Memorial services will be held at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, 2537 Pleasant Grove Rd., Bowman, GA Sunday, July 25, at 2 p.m.
Per the deceased’s request, in lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
