JEFFERSON – Lewis Henry Davis, 72, died Thursday, July 15, 2010.
Born on August 9, 1937, in Jefferson, he was the son of the late Malvin Henry and DeMaris Thurmond Davis. He owned and operated L.H. Davis and Son Logging for over 40 years. He was a member of the Lebanon United Methodist Church and served in the United States Army. Mr. Davis was preceded in death by a son, Derek Rueben Davis; brother, Norris Davis; and sister, Marian Davis Porter.
Survivors include his wife, Muarl Davis, Jefferson; son and daughter-in-law, Henry and Lori Davis, Jefferson; sisters, Faye Davis and Marsha Davis, both of Athens, and Molly Brannon, Oakwood; brothers, Joel Davis and Phil Davis, both of Jefferson, and Stanley Davis, Cumming; and granddaughters, Stevie Muarl Hurst, Henrietta Louise Davis and Lucy Davis.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 17, at 3 p.m., from the chapel of Evans Funeral Home with the Rev. Eric Shelton and Mr. Jim Esco officiating. Burial will be in Jackson Memorial Park Cemetery in Commerce. Serving as pallbearers will be Van Bullock, Bruce Davis, Benji Free, Hutch Porter, Wayne Harris, Tony Davis and Alan Pittman. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday, July 16, from 6 to 9 p.m.
