Rachel Griffin White, 79, of Flowery Branch, died Monday, July 21, 2008, at her residence, following an extended illness.
She was born in Anderson, S.C., the daughter of the late JB and Ruby Adams Dove. She was a graduate of Lyman Hall School and was a member of the Chestnut Mountain Church. She was involved with several civic groups including past president of the Credit Women’s Association, past president of HPC, past member of the Gainesville Choral, and a host of other organizations. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend to all, loved ones stated.
Survivors include her husband, Clay White, Flowery Branch; a son and daughter-in-law, Kim and Iris Griffin, Gainesville; step-daughters and husbands, Rovonda and Robin Bargeron, Macon, Kimily and Guy Beck, Lawrenceville; grandchildren, Jordan and Sydney Schmitt; step-grandchildren, Adalyn and Greyson Bargeron; brothers and sisters-in-law, Buddy and LaFern Dove, Monticello, Dennis and Darla Dove, Ellijay; sisters, Jannell Talley, Gainesville, Kay Dove Carter, St. Simons Island; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 23, at 2 p.m., in the chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home with the Revs. Jeff Benefield and Don Elrod officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday, July 22, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
