COMER – Joe Loyd Brooks, 74, died Saturday, July 10, 2010, at his residence.
Born in Madison County, he was the son of the late George T. and Gussie Scogins Brooks. He was a farmer and insurance division manager. Mr. Brooks was preceded in death by brothers and sisters, Gordon Brooks, Hoyt Books, Bertha Mae Brooks and Laura Bell Pullian.
Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Kloma J. Brooks; children and their spouses, Debbie and Godfrey Channell, George and Jane Brooks; brothers, Robert T. Brooks, James R. Brooks; a sister, Patsy Standridge; four grandchildren, Trey and Renae Compton, Dylan Brooks, Savannah Channell, Matthew Brooks; and many other children who thought of Mr. Brooks as a father.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, July 13, from the Lord & Stephens Funeral Home, Danielsville Chapel, with the Rev. Glen Guest officiating. Burial was at Danielsville Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers were Alex Hand, Cory Clements, Stan Maxwell, Jimmy T. Compton, Fred Martin, Mike Pullian, Darwin McGee and James McGee.

Lord & Stephens Funeral Home, Danielsville, Chapel, was in charge of arrangements.
