MARTIN - Nettie Pauline Ramey Voyles, 84, died Wednesday, July 7, 2010, at the home of her son and daughter-in-law, Wayne and Brenda Voyles of Hull.
She was a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was the daughter of the late Nathaniel Ramey and Iva Lee Simmons Ramey Seay of Rabun County. Mrs. Voyles was preceded in death by a daughter, Shirley Sue Voyles; brothers, J.C. Ramey, L.T. Ramey, Vaughn Ramey; and sisters, Louise Williams and Marie O'Shields.
Pauline worked as a health care provider at Lipscomb Nursing Home for 21 years. She was a faithful member of Poplar Springs Baptist Church in Lavonia, and the Womenâ•’s II Sunday School Class. She loved spending time at home with her family and friends, and she greatly loved her church and church family.
She was a devoted wife for 67 years. Survivors include her husband, Alvin W. Voyles, Martin; a brother, Bobby Ramey, Tiger; and sister, Betty York, Eastanolle; sons and daughters-in-law, Wayne and Brenda Voyles, Hull, and Tommy and Maephene Voyles, Martin; grandchildren, Shauna and Ed Smith, Winterville, Melissa and Ed Peery, Suwanee, Jason Voyles and Todd and Staci Voyles, all of Hull; and eight great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at Poplar Springs Baptist Church on Saturday, July 10, at 11 a.m. with the Revs. Jason Defoor and Hubert Carter officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The body will be placed in the church to lie in state beginning at 10:30 a.m. Visitation will be Friday, July 9, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Strickland Funeral Home in Lavonia. The Women's II Sunday School Class will serve as honorary escorts.
