FLOWERY BRANCH – Betty Windon, 76, died peacefully at her residence on Saturday, June 12, 2010.
Born in Montgomery W. Va., she was the daughter of the late Ira Granville and Ida (Conner) Billheimer. She was a longtime resident of Stone Mountain and retired from teaching at Henderson High School in the early 90s. She received a bachelor’s degree from West Virginia University Institute of Technology and a master’s degree in education from Georgia State University. Mrs. Windon was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Richard Windon; and a sister, Mildred Ray.
Survivors include sons, Roy Windon Jr. and Kim Granville Windon, both of Flowery Branch; daughters and sons-in-law, Ann (Windon) and Jim Robertson, Flowery Branch, Gaye (Windon) and Rick Palmer, Dawsonville, and Shawn (Windon) and Jeff Grover, Alpharetta; grandchildren, Jamie and Jaydan Robertson, Blake and Cody Palmer and Devon Grover; brother, Gordon Billheimer, Montgomery, W. Va.; sister and brother-in-law, Jane and Joe Leighton, Bridgeport, W. Va.; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Pattie Jo (Windon) and Tom Young, Sis (Windon) and Tom Shrewsbury, Charleston W. Va.
Memorial services will be held Saturday, June 19 at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Memorial Park South Funeral Home, followed by an open house at Betty’s home. Friends and family will also be received on Friday, June 18, at 6:30 p.m. at the home of Jeff and Shawn Grover. Please call for address and directions, 770-442-1422 or 404-247-6411.
