JEFFERSON – Sara Baker Nix, 74, died Wednesday, June 16, 2010.
Born on March 23, 1936, in Statham, she was the daughter of the late Fred and Rea Whitehead Baker. She was a member of Galilee Christian Church. Mrs. Nix was preceded in death by her sister, Louise McDaniel; and brothers, Ed, John, Bud and Bill Baker.
Survivors include her husband, Howard Nix, Jefferson; sons and daughters-in-law, James and Cathi Nix, Hull, Chris and Missy Nix, Jefferson; daughter and son-in-law, Diane and Charles Pittman, Jefferson; sister, Jewell Lee Gunter, Bogart; brothers and sisters-in-law, Walter and Jeanette Baker, Statham, Leonard and Runelle Baker, Lexington; grandchildren, Jeff, Taylor and Cody Nix, Jason and Brad Pittman, Laurie Beth (Nix) and Jason Ring.
Funeral services will be held Friday, June 18, at 11 a.m., from the Galilee Christian Church with the Rev. Don Brandon officiating. The body will lie in state at the church from 10:30 to 11 a.m. Friday before the service. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday, June 17, from 7 to 9 p.m.
Evans Funeral Home, Jefferson, is in charge of arrangements.
