Earl Dockery

MADISON, GA - Earl Dockery, 80, formerly of Hoschton, died Friday, June 11, 2010.

He was a longtime resident of Barrow County and was a retiree of Emory University. Mr. Dockery was preceded in death by a son, Glen Dockery,; parents, George and Dora Ravan Dockery; and siblings, Wesley, Flay, Lida Mae and David Dockery, Rosa Cato, Mary Morton, John Dockery, Callie Beddingfield, Dollie Massey, Fannie Dockery and Lula Mae Smith. He was a longtime member of Sharon Baptist Church and attended Trinity Baptist Church in Madison. He was a United States Army Veteran having served in the Korean Conflict.

Survivors include his wife, Elaine Dockery, Madison; children, Donald and Vicki Dockery, Madison, and Debora and Stanley Ledford, Gainesville; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; sister, Mildred Rowell, Powder Springs; and brother, Jack Dockery, Cleveland.

Funeral services were held Sunday, June 13, from the Chapel of Carter Funeral Home with the Rev. Doyle Sims officiating. Burial was in Sharon Baptist Church Cemetery with Military Honors.

Carter Funeral Home, Winder, was in charge of arrangements.
