COMMERCE – Mary Annelle Landrum Meriwether, 94, died Wednesday, June 9, 2010, at her residence.
Born in Floyd County, she was the daughter of the late Herbert Otto and Willie Clyde French Landrum. She was a homemaker and was a talented seamstress who enjoyed making “Barbee doll” creations for her granddaughters. Her love of history and pride in her family name, Landrum, lead her into the field of genealogy. Without the assistance of a computer, she cataloged each relative using the Georgia Archives, and libraries across northern Georgia. Before her illness she was an active member of the Columbia Drive Baptist Church in Decatur. Mrs. Meriwether was preceded in death by her husband, Woody Meriwether.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, James and Kay Mitchell, Commerce; grandchildren, Kathy and Mark Shirley, Wendy and Bruce Miller and Bobby and Michelle Mitchell; great-grandchildren, Andy, Ben and Becky Shirley, Aaron Veal, Lydia Anne and Emmie Mitchell; and a sister Matelyn Heyward, Alpharetta.
A memorial service for Mrs. Meriwether and Mr. Meriwether, who passed away on April 15, 2010, will be held Sunday, June 13, at 2 p.m., from the chapel of Little-Ward Funeral Home with the Rev. Cecil D. Gibby officiating. Burial will be at Rest Haven Cemetery in Decatur.
Little-Ward Funeral Home, Commerce, is in charge of arrangements.
