WINDER - Lura Lee Abner “Lou” Cronic, 82, died Friday, May 28, 2010.

Born in the Cedar Hill Community of Winder, she was the daughter of the late Luciaus Preston “Luke” Abner and Elmer Stancil Abner. She was married to the late Harry N. “Red” Cronic for 50 years. A member of Winder First Christian Church since June 1946 she had served on the Church Official Board, was a Sunday school teacher, held offices in the Christian Women’s Fellowship and had been secretary/treasurer of the Friendship Sunday School Class for more than 40 years. She graduated from Winder High School in 1944 and retired from The Winder News in 1992, after 47 years of service.

Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Lynn Hamilton Gamman and Greg Gamman, Aliso Viejo, Calif.; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; brothers, Billy Abner, Winder and Pharr Abner, Winter Park, Fla.; sisters, Flora Abner Shedd and Barbara Abner Bowen, both of Winder; five nephews; and two nieces.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 2, at 11 a.m. from the Winder First Christian Church with the Rev. Jim Brooks officiating. Burial will be in the Barrow Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday, June 1, from 5 to 8 p.m.
