Eugene “Gene” Coker, 71, died Saturday, May 29, 2010, at his residence.
Born in Banks County on July 5, 1938, he was the son of the late Henry and Genie Hill Coker. He was retired as a self-employed auto trader having owned and operated Coker’s Used Trucks. He attended Cornelia Congregational Holiness Church and enjoyed fishing, gardening and “loafering.” He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, loved ones stated. Mr. Coker was preceded in death by sisters, Lois Tara, Elouise Mann, Gloria Cotton, Ruby Whitefield and Guynell Coker; and a brother, James Coker.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Claydean Bennett Coker, Alto; children and their spouses, Patsy and Reynolds Waldron, Homer, Todd and Melinda Coker and Jeremy and Stephanie Coker, all of Alto; grandchildren, Dusty Coley, Nicole Collins, Aundie Black, Haley Black, Emily Coker, Seth Coker and Annalyssia Coker; great-grandchildren, Hayden Coley and Tucker Smith; sisters, Jessie Westbrook, Homer, Ruth Parsons, Marietta, and Sonya Baugh, Dundee, Fla.; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Noyl and Paralee Goodson, Alto.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, June 1, at 2 p.m., from the chapel of McGahee-Griffin & Stewart Funeral Home with the Rev. Scott Ledbetter officiating. Burial will be in the Wade Family Cemetery.
McGahee-Griffin & Stewart Funeral Home, Cornelia, is in charge of arrangements.

Daddy, you was the most special man God put on this earth, You really touched a lot of peoples lives. Never selfish always putting your children and family first. I really don't want to let you go, but after seeing the peace on your face i realized that finally you was not in pain for once in a really, really long time. Being the special daddy, man and friend that you was you deserve to rest in peace. I love you so, so much. Your only baby girl, Patsy

Gene I have known you my whole life and I know your in a better place with no pain and you are telling you jokes. I enjoyed talking to you a few days before you left us, We laughed and I am glad to have known you I will always be glad to call you my freind. Rest in peace old freind we will miss you!!!
