HOSCHTON – Grace Margenice Evans Freeman, 96, died Sunday, May 23, 2010.
Born on April 22, 1914, in Jackson County, she was the daughter of the late Alvin Edgar and Minnie Eunice Boggs Evans. She grew up in Dry Pond, graduated from the Martin Institute and attended Athens Business College. She was a homemaker and was a member of Hoschton First Baptist Church, Hoschton Women’s Civic Club, Hoschton Rebekah Lodge #98 and the Jackson County Historical Society. Mrs. Freeman was preceded in death by a sister, Therese Legg, Commerce.
Survivors include her husband of 71 years, Ralph Freeman Jr., Hoschton; daughters and sons-in-law, Jo Nan and Bill Warwick, Hoschton, and Pat and Bill Hardin, Mount Holly, N.C.; grandchildren, Todd Hardin, Dallas, Texas, Chuck Furlong, Austin, Texas, Steve Hardin, Frisco, Texas and Connie Decker, Columbus, N.C.; eight great-grandchildren; sisters and brothers-in-law, Martha and Hoyt Voyles and Ruth and Vernon Carter, all of Jefferson; and nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 26, at 2 p.m., from the chapel of Evans Funeral Home with the Revs. Ricky Thrasher and Russell Harbin officiating. Burial will be in Hoschton City Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday, May 25, from 4 to 8 p.m.
