John Walton Osley, 85, of Royston, died Thursday, July 10, 2008, at his residence.
He was born in Hart County on October 19, 1922, the son of the late Candler and Helen Holbrook Osley. He was a retired supervisor, having worked with Monroe Auto Equipment, and was a member of the Vanna United Methodist Church, where he was a former trustee. He was a former Boy Scout leader and member of the Harrison McCreary V.F.W. Post #4828 in Royston. Mr. Osley was a veteran, having served in the United States Army during World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Frances Carnes Osley, Royston; a son and daughter-in-law, Melvin and Cindy Osley, Lavonia; grandchildren and spouses, Misty and Lee Moore, Franklin Springs, John Osley, Lavonia, and Lee and Debbie Robinson, Hartwell; great-grandchildren, Rylee Moore, Macy Moore and Macy Robinson; and a sister, Ruth Osley Berryman, Royston.
Funeral services were held Sunday, July 13, at the Vanna United Methodist Church. Burial was in the church cemetery. Pallbearers were John Osley, Lee Moore, Lee Robinson, Kane Berryman, Kenny Walker, Kandler Berryman and Tyler Goss. Honorary pallbearers were James Kay, Brent Mize, Ben Ray, Cohen Royston and Howard Webb.

Pruitt Funeral Home, Royston, was in charge of arrangements.
