FLOWERY BRANCH - James L. Young, 72, died Saturday, May 8, 2010, at Landmark Hospital following an extended illness.
He was born on July 18, 1937, to Roosevelt Young in Buford and the late Eula Lee Bennett Young. He was employed by Ford Motor Company as a welder and retired after thirty-three and one-half years of service. He was of the Baptist denomination. Mr. Young was preceded in death by a daughter, Erica Young; and brothers, Bobby Young, Steve Young and Ricky Young.
Survivors in addition to his father include his loving wife, Mary Young, Flowery Branch; a son, Derry Young, Gainesville; daughters and sons-in-law, Debbie Young, Flowery Branch, Dee and Felton Shelton and Lynn and Dennis Meaders, all of Gainesville, Sherrie and David Jones, Macon,; seven grandchildren; brother, Larry Young and Lanory Young, both of Buford, Johnny Young, Dahlonega; sisters and brothers-in-law, Joyce and Jimmy Peppers, Hoschton, Wa Nell Brook, Milwaukee, Wisc.; and a host of nieces and nephews who love him and will miss him dearly.
Funeral services are scheduled for Thursday, May 13, at 1 p.m. in the chapel of Memorial Park South with burial to follow in the Memorial Park South Cemetery. The Rev. Bobby Bailey will officiate. The family will receive friends Wednesday, May 12, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
