HOLLINGSWORTH COMMUNITY – Stanley Duckett, 60, died Wednesday, May 5, 2010, at Northeast Georgia Medical Center.
Born in Jackson County on September 28, 1949, he was the son of Lila Mae Chambers Duckett of the Hollingsworth Community and the late Young Duckett. He was employed as a landfill manager with Green Leaf Landfill in Cumming and was previously the landfill manager at Habersham County Landfill, where he served for 30 plus years. He was a member of Hazel Creek Baptist Church and enjoyed gardening, hunting and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Mr. Duckett was preceded in death by brothers, Wilton Duckett and Dolphus Duckett.
Survivors in addition to his mother include his wife of 41 years, Betty Ann Duckett, Hollingsworth Community; sons and daughters-in-law, Timmy and Michelle Duckett and Phillip and Kim Duckett, all of the Hollingsworth Community; sister and brother-in-law, Debra and Tommy White, Rock Springs Community; brother, David Duckett, Hollingsworth Community; grandchildren, Ethan Duckett, Brittani Duckett, Taylor Duckett, Ben Duckett and Julie Duckett; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 8, at 2 p.m. from Hazel Creek Baptist Church with the Rev. Billy Burrell and Pastor Trent Smith officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday, May 7, from 3 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. The family is at the residence.
