Frank G. Duncan, 75, of Gainesville, died Monday, July 14, 2008, at Lanier Park Hospital in Gainesville, following a long brave battle with multiple illnesses.
He was born in Dawson County, the son of the late Ernest and Emma Gravitt Duncan. He was a member of Mountain View Baptist Church and was a retired truck driver with Fieldale Farms. Mr. Duncan was a veteran, having served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and father-in-law, loved ones stated. He was preceded in death by his oldest daughter, Patricia Duncan Brogdon; brothers, Ben Duncan, Charlie Duncan; and a sister, Ellen Elliott.
Survivors include his loving wife of 52 years, Ernestine Ballew Duncan; son and daughter-in-law, Eddie Frank and Teresa Duncan, Flowery Branch; daughter and son-in-law, Sonya Maria Duncan and Alan Jones, Gainesville; son-in-law, Johnny Brogdon, Buford; grandchildren, Ginger Brogdon and Wayne Johnson, Buford, Jennifer Brogdon and Jeremy Howell, Cumming, Janna Brooke Jones and Kayla Paige Jones, both of Gainesville; sisters and brother-in-law, Lois Moss, Leah and Jack Holland and Nell Duncan Childers.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 16, at 4 p.m., in the chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home with the Revs. Bobby Brown and James McNeal officiating. Burial will be in the Oakwood City Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday, July 15, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to the American Cancer Society or a charity of your choice.
Memorial Park Funeral Home, Gainesville, is in charge of arrangements.
