STATHAM – Geraldine “Granny Annie” Wellborn, 81, died Friday, April 23, 2010.
A native of Oglethorpe Country, she was the daughter of the late Tallie and Ruby Varnum Savage. She retired as a floral arranger, working for Flowers Inc. for a number of years. She was an avid artist dealing with Primitive Art Paintings. She is in the Artist Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, N.Y. and currently has art being exhibited at the Georgia Southern University, where she is the “Poster Child.” Mrs. Welborn was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmie Wellborn; a daughter and son-in-law, Mary Alice and Artice “Leadfoot” Ridgeway; and a number of siblings.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Sandra and Richard Hanson, Hull; sisters, Hazel Forrester, Gainesville, Claudette Lathem, Clermont, and Sarah Garrett, Winder; brothers, Lewis Savage, Lake Oconee, Marvin Savage, Watkinsville, Bob Savage, Jefferson, RL Savage, Loganville; six grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and a number of other relatives.
Funeral services were held Sunday, April 25, from Lord & Stephens West chapel with the Rev. Bud McDonald officiating. Burial was at Evergreen Memorial Park.
Lord & Stephens Funeral Home, West, Bogart, was in charge of arrangements.
