COLBERT – David William “Pap” Bailes, 74, died Saturday, April 10, 2010.
Born on June 24, 1936, in Humboldt County, Calif., he was the son of the late James H. Bailes and Aletha Bailes Madden. He was a retired driver from Yellow Freight and had in recent years worked for the Oconee Board of Commissioners as court house security.
Survivors include his wife, Gleta Smith Bailes, and children, Rebecca Steward, Donald and Audrey Rielly, Wendy Bailes, Gary Smith and Sarah Lynn Shoe, Marcia and Jack Jackson, Jeff and Whitney Smith, Missy and Robbie Cobb; 18 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary’s Hospice House in Athens.
Lord & Stephens Funeral Home, Danielsville, is in charge of arrangements.
