BETHLEHEM - Tom Bell, 73, died Wednesday, April 7, 2010.
Born in Winder, he was the son of the late Thruman Wesley Bell and Pauline Wall Bell. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Dru Willie Evans. A member of the Bethlehem First United Methodist Church, he was a member of the Wesley Fellowship Class. He had served as president of the Athens-Elberton District United Methodist Church. He was Mayor of Bethlehem for 18 years and served two years on the town council. He was past president of the Oconee River Conservation & Development (ORC&D). He was a leader for 30 years with the Boys Scouts of America Troop 567. Mr. Bell was retired from Westinghouse Electric where he was an electrical engineer.
Survivors include his wife, Nell Bell; son and daughter-in-law, Bryan and Tracy Bell, Cornelia; daughter, Tracy Bell, Bethlehem; and grandchild, Dalton Knight.
Funeral services will be held Friday, April 9, at 2 p.m., from the Bethlehem First United Methodist Church, with the Revs. Parker Benson and Harold Corbin officiating. Burial will be in Barrow Memorial Gardens.
Smith Funeral Home, Winder, is in charge of arrangements.

My Dad was the best father a son could want. He watched me make some bad mistakes in my life but stood my me at all times. He was loved by a lot of people and never met a sranger.

Tom was a very loved man. He will be greatly missed by his grandson Dalton.
