David Charles Wheeler, Jr., 73, of Gainesville, died Sunday, July 13, 2008, at his residence, following an extended illness.
He was born in Habersham County, the son of the late David Charles Wheeler Sr. and Cora Lee Waldrep Wheeler. He was retired from SCM Printing Company and was a veteran, having served in the United States Navy.
Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Dorothy Ann Wheeler, Gainesville; daughters and sons-in-law, Teresa and Mark Smith, Gainesville, Vickie and Stephen Mitchell, Grayson; son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Kristi Wheeler, Homer; grandchildren, Heather and Tiffany Smith, Michael Wheeler Jr., Kasey Wheeler, Brittney Mitchell, Amber Mitchell and Colby Mitchell; sisters, Andrea Catlett, Blondine Tomlin, Rosa Lee Whitworth, all of Demorest; Nellaree Ellison, Clarkesville, Dot Hill, Ocean City, Md., and Linda Sanders, Mt. Airy; brothers, Douglas J. Wheeler, Willie D. Wheeler, Paul Wheeler, all of Demorest, Randy Wheeler, St. Louis Park, Minn.; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 16, at 2 p.m., in the chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home with the Rev. Kenneth McEntire officiating. Entombment will follow in the Memorial Park Mausoleum. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday, July 15, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m.
