ATHENS – Charles “Ned” Archer, 89, died Thursday, March 25, 2010.
A native of Jackson County, the was the son of the late Edward E. “Bud” and Annie Lou Oliver Archer and was a member of Redstone United Methodist Church. Mr. Archer earned two Bronze Stars while serving his country during WWII and was stationed in the Philippines and the New Guinea Theater. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lessie Cheek Archer; four sisters and five brothers.
Survivors include a brother and sister-in-law, Jack Oliver and Virginia Archer, Nicholson; sister-in-law, Florence Archer Williams, Athens; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Sunday, March 28 at Redstone United Methodist Church with the Revs. Steven Keller and Doug Conwell officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.

Bernstein Funeral Home, Athens, was in charge of arrangements.
