WINDER – Eulice “Pete” Crawford III, 80, died Saturday, March 27, 2010.
Born in Cuthbert, he was the son of the late Eulice H. Crawford Jr. and Mary Perkins Ware and stepfather, the late James Ware. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Winder and was veteran of the United States Navy having served in Korea.
Survivors include his wife Freta O’Shields Crawford, Winder; sons and daughters-in-law, Jeff and Pam Martin and Mike and Laurie Martin, all of Winder and Kyle Crawford, Menton, N.Y.; grandchildren, Jessie Steedley, Haley Harrison, Ryan Martin and Kerrigan Martin; and great-grandchildren, Laura Kate Steedley and Hawkins Martin Harrison.
Memorial services will be held Tuesday, March 30, at 2 p.m., from Smith Memory Chapel with the Rev. Terry Tippens officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, March 29 at the funeral home.

PETE WAS SOMEWHAT PARADOXICAL IN THAT HE WAS A LEATHERY-TOUGH GUY THAT LOVED GOLF AND TROUT FISHING, BUT WAS A FOOD AND DRINK GOURMET AND HE AND FRETA COULD HOST AN OUTSTANDING GATHERING OF FRIENDS WITH ELEGANT FLAIR.
I SHALL MISS HIS FRIENSHIP SORELY, AS WILL MANY, MANY OTHERS. GOODBYE, DEAR FRIEND.
