ORMOND BEACH, FLA. - Amye Lott Hawthorne, 84, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away Thursday, March 18, 2010.
Amye was born at the Hoschton Hospital on September 29, 1925, to Gladys Boggs Lott and Ralph Lott, and was a member of the Hoschton Methodist Church. After graduation from the University of Georgia, she taught school in Thompson, Georgia before moving to Daytona Beach, Fla., in 1948, teaching school there for 30 years, where she was a member of Ormond Beach First United Methodist Church. Amye enjoyed caring for her home and family, hiking in the mountains, fishing, playing the piano, and gardening. She collected recipes and was fond of cooking and baking for her friends and family. Mrs. Hawthorne was preceded in death by a brother, Hilliard L. Lott of Hoschton; and sister, Frances Lott Willis of Wildwood, Fla.
Survivors include her husband of 53 years, William R. Hawthorne, Ormond Beach, Fla.; a son, Thomas R. Hawthorne, Guilford, Conn.; daughter, Amy (Lyn) Hawthorne, Oracle, Ariz.; grandson, Aaron Hawthorne and granddaughter-in-law, Katie Hawthorne, Hamden, Conn.
Services were held on March 22, at Haigh-Black Funeral Home, followed by committal and interment at Volusia Memorial Park in Ormond Beach, Fla.
