Furman Edward Brooks, 72, of Cleveland, died Friday, July 11, 2008, at Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville following a brief illness.
He was born in Franklin County on February 25, 1936, the son of the late Frank and Annebelle Dockery Brooks. He was head of security at Mountain Lakes Resort, was a lifetime member of VFW, and member of the Cleveland Worship Center. Mr. Brooks was a veteran, having served in the United States Army.
Survivors include his wife, Nona Von Brooks; daughters, Patricia Tooley, Dahlonega, Mary Brooks, Kokomo, Ind., Sue Janck, Laverna, Texas, Gayle Everett, Cleveland; a son, Steve Brooks, Dallas, Texas; brothers, Earl Brooks, Sautee, Kenneth Brooks, Cleveland, Wayne Brooks, Alto; sisters, Nellie Brooks and Beulah Black, both of Cleveland.
Funeral services were held Sunday, July 13, at the Cleveland Worship Center with the Revs. Marc Turner and Joe Dover officiating. Burial was in Union Grove Holiness Church Cemetery.
