Madeline Watkins

WINDER - Madeline Watkins, 87, died Tuesday, March 16, 2010.

Born in Barrow County, she was the daughter of the late Charlie and Hattie Austin Dunagan. She was preceded in death by her husband, Mayfield Watkins; and a daughter, Patricia Sims. Mrs. Watkins was a retired seamstress with Cherokee Manufacturing Company of Winder and had attended Cornerstone Christian Church.

Survivors include sons, Buddy Sims and Phil Sims, both of Winder; grandchildren, Robin Hetherington, Lawrenceville, Nicole Simmons, Braselton, Danny Sims and Ray Sims, both of Winder; six great-children; sister, Mary Willie Thompson, Bethlehem; and nephews, Derrell Thompson and Randy Thompson, both of Bethlehem.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 18, at 2 p.m., from the chapel of Carter Funeral Home, with the Rev. Hal Tapp officiating. Burial will be in Barrow Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday, March 17, from 6 to 9 p.m.
